Robin Deriaz

Autobiography and exhibition trajectory.

I am a contemporary artist-jeweller based in Switzerland. I graduated with a BA in Design from HEAD-Geneva, and I approach creation as a deeply experimental process. My practice is sculptural, grounded in material research, and values precious and common materials equally.

My visual language is inspired by nature, industrial structures, and the small, often overlooked details of everyday life. Through these, I explore, amongst other aspects, the meaning of forms related to protection, constraint, and containment. This reasoning is concretely translated into my interest in strata, the ones that make up the ground, mark facades, or cover our bodies. To materialise these concepts, I create a dialogue between metal and raw or organic elements such as plaster, brick, amber, and various patinas. I work primarily through traditional hand-fabrication, selectively integrating contemporary tools like 3D printing and virtual reality drawing to serve the concept. By combining these methods, my work constantly seeks the tension between brutality and refinement.

I want my jewellery to be a narrative experience, intimate and sometimes slightly unsettling, designed to challenge and question our relationship with our surroundings. Jewellery allows me to bring these reflections down to the intimate scale of the body, creating a direct connection with ourselves. More than just an ornament, I see it as a medium where memory, the message of the work, and its value can be worn.
